Paul and I visited the Holy Island of Lindisfarne long ago. By pure chance we arrived when the water was receding and the causeway was emerging. We managed to take photographs that looked like we were “walking on water.” (Paul has a couple of pics if you want to have a look!)

Here we are on All Hallows Eve, pausing to look toward a realm and life beyond Earth. Our readings speak of life beyond death and a New Eternal Heaven and Earth to come. And our hymns remind us that, as we raise our voices on Earth, we join the Heavenly realm in praising God.

Transfiguration
The Transfiguration story is strange. Transfiguration literally means “metamorphosis” – a slightly more familiar idea. We know about the metamorphosis of the caterpillar into a butterfly, or the tadpole into a frog. And on Valentine’s Day, perhaps a frog, if you kiss the right one, may be transformed into a prince.
